Las Vegas – Beyond the Strip
When you think about Las Vegas you probably conjure up pictures of upscale hotels, high stakes games and a foray of legalized gambling. What you many not realize is that when it comes to Las Vegas there is a lot more to the city than first meets the eye. Locals and those that know the city well are keen to the idea that many of the best things that Sin City has to offer are actually not on the strip at all.
Getting out of the hotels, casinos, and off the Las Vegas Strip will give you some great options. If you don’t plan to drive there, or rent a car, you are still in luck. There are tour companies that can arrange some sightseeing tours for you. A few things you don’t want to miss include Red Rock Canyon, a picturesque array of mountains, where you can take hikes, a scenic drive, and horseback ride, among other activities.
Another place you don’t want to miss while visiting the Las Vegas valley is Hoover Dam. It’s a scenic drive that is well worth the trip to admire the hard work and sweat put into building the Dam. If you want a great view of the entire valley lit up at night drive east toward Sunrise Mountain to find Hollywood Blvd. As you drive along Hollywood Blvd. you will be treated to a spectacular view of the whole city filled with lights. Whatever you do, don’t spend your entire vacation in a hotel or casino. Get outside and see some of what else the city has to offer.
